RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015

Gold Medal Award Winning Brewin Dolphin Garden

The Brewin Dolphin Garden has been awarded a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015, bringing acclaim for Cornwall garden designer, Darren Hawkes.

It is a complete one-off. Over 40,000 pieces of hand cut slate will make up the surface of the platforms that people walk on. The garden is filled with mature English Elms and familiar hedgerow plants that will evoke a feeling of a garden that has been left to run wild.

Many of the elements of the garden have been inspired by the Cornish landscape and Cornish garden design traditions; dry stone, granite walls, slate paving and hedgerow inspired planting. The monolithic stone platforms create drama when juxtaposed against the fragile fresh plants that lie underneath and between.

The garden is sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, a wealth management company with offices throughout the country. The garden draws on Brewin Dolphin’s heritage, but also reflects their forward thinking approach to business. Darren Hawkes Landscapes has greatly enjoyed the partnership and the opportunity to bring a taste of Cornwall garden design to Chelsea.
