Steeply sloping estuary garden

The heart of the garden design is a simple and elegant curve that runs from the gate down through the front garden and across the rear terrace before disappearing on to a lower, more private terrace surrounded by Cardoons, Rudbeckias and Echinacea. The line acts to soften the terracing and steps.

The garden is full of sweeping curves both on the horizontal and vertical plane. Lanvendula intermedia ‘Grosso’ breaks up the edge of the terrace and Erigeron Karvinskianus binds together the loose soil on the steeper areas. A bank of grasses interspersed with Allium ‘Purple Splendour’ look fantastic against the back drop of the river and highlight the changing directions of the coastal winds.
