Sunken Coastal Garden
North Coast

How can you make a new garden feel a part of the wild surrounding landscape?

Inspiration came from the pathways made be sheep in the fields on the opposite side of the valley.  The spoil from the build of a new house had been shaped to form raised lawns before we were appointed.  Rather than remove these we cut through them to create sunken pathways and sight lines that connected out in to the landscape beyond.  This offered opportunity to create planting at eye level as well as sheltered spots for plants at low level.
